Rev. Barrington's letters, Summer 2006: 22 May31 May13 June26 June26 July10 Sept.

On May 19, 2006, the Rev. E. Tom Barrington, Jr., Rector of All Saints’ Church, Chelmsford, Massachusetts, went to Maseno, Kenya for two months as part of a sabbatical. The goals of the trip were to learn about the Anglican Church in Kenya, to observe the Mother Union Orphan Feeding & Health Care Programs in the Diocese of Maseno North and to visit seminary classmate the Rt. Rev. Joseph Wasonga, Bishop of the Diocese Maseno West. He stayed at St. Philip’s Theological College, a small training school of the Anglican Church of Kenya in the Diocese of Maseno North. Maseno is in western Kenya north of Lake Victoria.

Tom was invited to St. Philip’s by the Principal, Nancy Hardison. Nancy, and her husband Gerry Hardison MD, are Episcopal Church USA missionaries and have been in Kenya for about seven years. Nancy is a retired professor from Point Loma Nazarene College in San Diego. Gerry practiced medicine and taught at University of California in San Diego Medical School. He is now the director of the Maseno Mission Hospital. For more information about the Hardisons please see Partnering with Kenya’s Poorest on the Web site of All Souls Episcopal Church, San Diego.
