Outreach as part of Children's Christian Education
Each year the Lower Church School participates in a variety of outreach projects which
allows the children to learn the value of acting on their faith and giving back from
which they receive.
Following are a few of programs supported last year (2007-2008).
Your encouragement and participation is greatly appreciated.
The entire Lower Church School declared February as Outreach Month.
Their efforts were concentrated on two specific charitable organizations.
- Food for the Chelmsford Food Pantry
- Along with the congregation, the children are encouraged to bring food in each week
to support the Chelmsford Food Pantry. The food is collected outside their classroom every
Sunday. In addition, during Outreach Month, the Atrium class lovingly decorated shopping bags
and asked the congregation to take one home, fill it and bring it back to church. Many families
and parishioners participated and it was wonderfully successful. Whatever you can share is greatly
appreciated.
- Chelsea Soldiers’ Home in Massachusetts
- The Chelsea Soldiers’ Home is a local veteran’s residential, long term care facility and
outpatient hospital. During Outreach Month the church school and congregation as a whole
donated much needed toiletry items for this very worthy cause.
The Lower Church School is presently without an Outreach Coordinator. If you have new ideas we
might explore and are willing to work with the children and the teachers to organize and implement
them, please contact the Childrens Christian Education Directors.
