Every Ash Wednesday Christians remind themselves that “we are dust and to dust we shall return.” This is our way of celebrating that we are creatures, not gods, and that our time on earth will come to an end. We can be so bold, contrary to our culture that denies death at every turn, because we know that nothing, not even death, “can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Since death is coming for us all, it is an act of love to provide for our family our wishes regarding health care as we die and our burial service after we are gone.
We, therefore, encourage you to fill out these forms, make copies of them for your family, and provide a copy of your burial service requests to All Saints’ Church so we can honor your wishes. We have a lot of experience in helping people think through this process and are willing to meet with you one on one if that would be helpful.
Jesus said, “I am resurrection and I am life.” When we are grasped by the Risen Christ we are freed from the fear of death and freed for living and loving as his disciples in the days we have left.
“May the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory.”
